Details

The Food Trucks Association of Canada aims to better understand the challenges faced by food truck operators by analyzing their questions and posts on public forums. The project involves developing a script that can automatically categorize these posts into predefined categories, such as licensing issues, equipment maintenance, location challenges, and business operation cahllenges. By identifying the most common issues, the association can tailor its services and resources to better support the food truck community. This project offers learners the opportunity to apply their knowledge of natural language processing and data analysis to a real-world problem. The script should be efficient, accurate, and easy to integrate into existing systems, providing valuable insights for the association's strategic planning.

Deliverables

The primary deliverable is a functional script capable of categorizing forum posts into specific categories. The script should include documentation detailing its setup, usage, and maintenance. Additionally, a report summarizing the most common issues identified from the analysis should be provided. The script and report will help the Food Trucks Association of Canada enhance its support services for the industry.

An agile approach has been taken and we are now looking to redefine how we can best start and grow to support the industry. It is critically important to us to provide real and lasting value to our members.

Projects that are taken on by students and courses in the Riipen platform will be instrumental in our ability to build capacity to deliver that value.
To date, the work of the Food Trucks Association of Canada has been led by a volunteer Executive Director who is a passionate advocate in this space, and has leveraged a 75% student body of employees made available through various employment subsidies. It is a key part of our mandate to support student learning.

The NAICS code for the Food Trucks is 7223 and other code subsets.
